In 1987, Merlo created the last true revolution in regards to the traditional telehandlers, with the introduction of the Panoramic Series. By positioning the engine on the side and parallel to the rest of the machine, Merlo gave itself the space needed for a 100 % retracting boom and at the same time, allowed 360° vision for the operator. Furthermore, with the invention of the Ring of SteelTM integrated with the chassis, Merlo designed the only telehandler with no counterweight; making these machines the most stable and the most compact of the industry. This eliminates the bouncing effect and its negative consequences on the components of the machine. Thanks to the class 1 hydrostatic transmission, Merlo finally allowed real pushing and pulling performance, still unequalled to this day. In addition, this company has improved the operator's comfort with an ergonomic, closed and pressurized cab; which is, the largest on the market.
