On Tuesday, Aug. 10, Manulift and Nextra Consulting welcomed Ontario business owners and heavy machinery operators to its second Liquids Event, GROW, at Manulift’s branch in Stoney Creek, ON.

Manulift and Nextra’s 2020 collaboration had Ontario snow removal companies see first-hand the positive impact that Merlo telehandlers could have on their operations, combined with the increased efficiency that liquids can bring to the snow removal industry.

“It’s exciting to see a mix of people who were here last year, as well as new attendees,” said Grant Harrison of Nextra Consulting. “It’s great to see companies, who weren’t quite ready to implement liquids into their snow removal business last year, back again this year ready to give it a go. Today was a basic introduction to liquids for snow removal, but we have an in-depth liquid’s event this September where we’ll dig into the science and technology behind it.”

This year, Manulift and Nextra welcomed vendors like Metal PlessViaesysLiquids RevolutionEco SolutionsEquipment NorthWeb ROISalt Cheap and Bidwell Financial Services to help showcase their products and services. Attendees also grabbed a catered lunch courtesy of The Dirty South food truck.

The show kicked off with a presentation from Pierre-Marc Laforest of Reliable Care Premium Landscapes. Laforest described his own experience of discovering the efficiency of switching from solid salts to liquid brine. From a cost-savings perspective to being more operator-friendly, he spoke at length about the benefits since making the switch. He even brought one of his trucks with a sprayer and was happy to talk attendees through the details of his operations.

The event also gave attendees an idea of how they could merge a liquids-based approach to snow removal with a Merlo telehandler.

“I bought a Merlo for a specific purpose, to manoeuvre in a tight area, and my operators loved it,” said T.J. Bryk from The Ground Guys of Toronto. “I started to incorporate liquids into my business last year, and in the areas where I used it, it worked immaculately, especially with the Metal Pless blade on our Merlo that would clean it up.”

Both sessions finished off with Manulift’s Pierre Brulotte (National Director — Agriculture and Industrial) and Greg Scott (Territory Manager Ontario — Industrial) doing a walk-around and demo of two Merlo telehandlers. They showcased their power as the Merlo telehandlers easily manoeuvred with 3.2 tons of dirt in a bucket attachment, demonstrated how Merlo is compatible with snowplow attachments, such as Metal Pless’. Attendees even got the chance to operate the machines themselves!

“This event was great. We were able to provide a space for people to meet new vendors, learn a lot and connect with people from within their industry,” said Brulotte. “It’s fun to be able to give a personal tour of a Merlo. There were several operators here today that we’re able to vouch for the advantages they brought their businesses.”

During this event, Ontario landscapers took part in the perfect mix of learning, networking and machine testing. Attendees were able to get an intimate and in-depth look at Merlo telehandlers. Merlo offers an unparalleled option for snow removal businesses thanks to its versatility, pushing power and manoeuvrability.
