MANULIFT announces its partnership with ACFA and the UPA de la Capitale-Nationale–Côte-Nord to support mental health services across Quebec’s agricultural sector through its ‘Travailleur de rang’ project.

(Quebec — Sept. 10, 2021) Manulift is proud to be a partner and donor to Au coeur des families agricoles (ACFA), its agricultural support network and, in particular, its ‘Travailleur de rang’ project This commitment will have help with the hiring of the first social worker in the Capitale-Nationale–Côte-Nord region through the regional UPA. The social worker will be working hand-in-hand with agricultural workers. The rate of psychological distress and suicide within the agricultural community is double that of the general population. In a preventive approach, they will travel and meet farmers to help improve their and their family’s mental health.

Manulift has a large clientele of agricultural producers throughout Quebec. This partnership is part of the company’s commitment to strengthening our relationship with the agricultural community to better meet the needs of farmers and their families. That connection will link our experts directly to the agricultural community so that they are better heard, understood and served. This initiative and partnership affirm the company’s desire to express its solidarity with the agricultural community.

“As a company specializing in telehandlers, Manulift has been working closely with the agricultural community for several years. Today, we wanted to take concrete action to maintain and improve the mental health of our clients,” said Pierre Brulotte, National Sales Director — Agriculture.

“We’re in contact with farmers daily, so this cause is especially important to us. Concrete social engagement initiatives are a new chapter for our company. We now have a chance to help the people who feed us and build our homes and hospitals. It’s our duty to support the men and women who work in the field of essential services,” said Pascal Prévost, National Director of Marketing and Communications.

We would like to draw attention to this program, remove the stigma surrounding mental health issues in the agricultural community, and encourage our partners to make contributions to the cause. These donations will help to develop more mental health resources.

Over three years, Manulift is proud to be committing $25,000 per year to the ACFA, including $12,500 to the UPA de la Capitale-Nationale–Côte-Nord, while promoting the cause and organizing fundraisers to contribute more.
