JJ McGuire is the leading general contractor in the Durham, Ontario region. They rely on delivering high-quality work, keeping promises and above all on their ability to self-perform several construction works. On most of their sites, you will find a Merlo telehandler purchased from Manulift, which is essential to optimize their operations. Here’s what we learned when we met them on the site of a future retirement home.

CONCRETE FORMWORK WITH A ROTO

On this site, JJ McGuire’s third rotating telescopic handler, a ROTO 60.24MCSS, works relentlessly all day long. For instance, it is used to erect the PERI-type formwork walls, to pour cement using a concrete bucket as well as for hoisting rebar if necessary. The machine’s compactness allows it to be at the heart of the site, setting the work pace for everyone. In fact the Merlo always remains on the job site to perform a variety of tasks and allows JJ McGuire to be as independent as they possibly can. If ever there was a problem, Manulift’s 24/7 road service team would be able to get to the job site quickly and minimize down time.

VERSATILE, FAST AND SAFE

In the harsh and unpredictable Canadian climate, the Roto’s independent stabilizers allow it to work in uneven and muddy terrain. On top of it, the 360-degree visibility in the cab allows the team to progress efficiently and safely. Additionally, the machine’s great versatility is a huge advantage to maintain a fast work pace. And more importantly, they don’t have to rely on expensive sub-contractors to perform weather-dependent operations such as pouring concrete.
