Located in Putnam, near London, Ontario, the Whitecrest Mushrooms company ( www.whitecrestmushrooms.com) has specialized in the mushroom production since its establishment in the 80's. Owners since 2011, Murray and Chantelle Good grow, all year long, Portobello and Crimini mushrooms. Their mission: to become the leading supplier, for mushrooms, in Canada.

With the aim of increasing productivity and decreasing operational costs, they decided in 2010 to change their tractor, a John Deere 5220 and acquire a telehandler. Usually renting an English brand of telehandler, they thought about buying one of those models, but they quickly changed their mind when they were introduced to the Merlo Multifarmer 30.6.

The Multifarmer 30.6 is the perfect fusion between a traditional tractor and a telehandler. With its 3,000 kg (6,600 lb) lifting capacity, 6 m (20') boom, 40 km/h speed, 3 point category III massive linkage with a capacity of 4,310 kg (9,500 lb) and a powerful direct PTO of 110 hp; it is, without a doubt, the most versatile equipment on the market. The Multifarmer is in a class of its own; in addition to the 33% minimal fuel savings; it has all the features that Merlo is renown for (Ring of SteelTM, anti-torsion chassis, class 1 hydrostatic transmission, 360° visibility, compatible with the 90 Merlo attachments, etc.).

"As soon as we saw a telehandler with a mechanical 3 point linkage and a PTO, other brands no longer existed" -Mr. Murray Good, Owner.

At Whitecrest Mushrooms, the Multifarmer is involved in handling, snow removal, special construction projects and even as a back up power supply for the generator. But one of the best examples of the incomparable productivity of the Multifarmer is when it comes time to, each week, handle, pierce and spread bales of peat moss, which are 55 pi3. In fact, with the bale grabber, work is done 4 times faster. "My employee can handle, pierce and spread 20 bales in 30 minutes; before, it took 2 hours to do the same work. Just this operation, alone, saves me $1,500 per year in labour"

Manulift EMI, with branches in Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City and Alberta, is an importer of the Merlo products. Manulift EMI is proud to offer these innovative telehandler products to Canadian entrepreneurs.

The high demand for the Merlo product is clear with more than 800 units sold in Canada in the last six years. Merlo is the telehandler world leader with pure innovation for 40 years. With 28 units produced every day, Merlo is the most demanded telehandler brand worldwide.
