JJ McGuire: the general contractor that stands out thanks to Merlo

JJ McGuire is a general contractor and leader in the Durham region of Ontario. Since its founding 35 years ago, the company has relied on the high quality of its teams' work and is recognized above all for its ability to carry out many construction projects in-house and limit outsourcing. On many of its job sites, you will find a Merlo telescopic handler purchased from Manulift, which is essential to their operations. Here is what we learned when we met them on the job site of a potential retirement home.

Roto

On this site, JJ McGuire's third rotating telescopic handler, a Roto 60.24MCSS, is in constant use, whether it's erecting PERI formwork walls, pouring cement using a concrete bucket, or installing reinforcing bars. The Merlo therefore remains on site at all times to perform a variety of tasks and allow them to be as independent as possible. Its compact size allows it to be at the heart of the site and set the pace for all the workers. If there were ever a problem, Manulift's 24/7 road service team would be able to get to the site quickly and minimize downtime.

VERSATILE, FAST, AND SAFE

In Canada's harsh and unpredictable climate, Roto's independent stabilizers are a huge help, letting them work even in uneven, muddy ground. The 360-degree visibility in the cab also lets the crew work efficiently and safely. Plus, their machine's versatility lets them keep up a fast pace. Ultimately, they no longer have to rely on expensive subcontractors to perform weather-dependent tasks such as pouring concrete.
