It is recognized worldwide that Merlo is the only manufacturer that designs telehandlers to increase entrepreneurs' productivity. Canadians who visit the Merlo factory are always amazed. Despite having 2,500 employees, the Merlo family is very involved in operations, often pushing forward with projects even on Saturdays. “The impact we have on contractors' productivity is what motivates us to constantly invest,” says the Merlo family.
In business since 1964, Merlo offers its products in more than 70 countries and now manufactures more than 72 models of telehandlers. Compared to competitors who are branching out into several types of products and attempting to recycle their R&D, Merlo remains focused on telehandlers and the contractors who use them.
The Merlo factory, located in Italy, covers more than 330,000 m², of which 220,000 m² are dedicated to production. A truly integrated structure, it manufactures more than 90% of its machine components in-house—from transmissions to cabs, axles, hydraulic cylinders, and plastic parts. From raw steel to the finished machine, everything is done on site, including painting, electronics, rubber, and plastics. The factory employs around 180 engineers dedicated to research, development, and continuous production optimization.
